AWARDED The 2011 LOCAL HERO AWARD, Chef Mark Shadle lives his passion daily

 Farm raised and completely self taught, co- owner at the famous ION in his home town Middletown CT, Mark is a vegetarian, vegan and raw food chef who's food sensibilities are organic, seasonal and farm to table. A Michelle Obama invite to the "Chefs move to school" initiative at the the White House and two time Gold metal winner at the Culinary Olympics in Germany.  Mark also is also a regular guest on NPR's "Food Schmooze" with Faith Middleton and is involved with CT Farmland Trust and an advocate for preserving farms and supporting local, organic and sustainable food systems.  Awarded 2011 "Local Hero Award" for his achievements as a chef and restaurateur, a title he plans to live up to and is honored to have received.  For a more in depth look into what inspired Mark and shaped his culinary career please continue...
